This Privacy Policy explains how Dwello ("we", "us") processes personal data of users of livedwello.com, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / DSGVO) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

2. Data we collect

  • Account data: name, email, phone (optional), city, language preference.
  • Application data: information you submit when applying for membership (home type, photos, description).
  • Listing & profile data: bio, photos of your home, availability.
  • Communication data: messages with hosts/guests and Dwello support.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser, device, log data, cookies strictly necessary for the service.

3. Purposes & legal basis

  • Providing the platform and matching members — Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract).
  • Verification of members and homes — Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in trust & safety).
  • Transactional emails (application status, bookings, identity verification) — Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
  • Fraud prevention and security — Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
  • Legal obligations (tax, accounting) — Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.

4. Recipients & processors

We use carefully selected processors under GDPR-compliant data-processing agreements (Art. 28 GDPR), including cloud hosting, database, and email-delivery providers within the EU/EEA. Data may be transferred outside the EU only on the basis of EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. Storage period

Account data is kept for the duration of your membership and deleted within 90 days of account closure, unless retention is required by law (e.g. tax records — 10 years per § 147 AO).

6. Your rights (Art. 15–22 GDPR)

  • Access, rectification, erasure ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restriction of processing and data portability.
  • Objection to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — e.g. Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit.

7. Cookies

We use only cookies strictly necessary for authentication and security. We do not set marketing or tracking cookies without your consent.

8. Security

We apply technical and organisational measures (TLS in transit, encryption at rest, role-based access) to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or alteration.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice.
